Aid for Integrated Development (AID) is a national humanitarian and development organization working in Ethiopia to improve the lives, dignity, resilience, and self-reliance of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities. Through integrated and community-centered programming, AID connects humanitarian response with sustainable development, peacebuilding, and resilience.

AID works at the intersection of humanitarian action, sustainable development, and peacebuilding. Guided by the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus approach, we respond to immediate needs while strengthening community resilience, local systems, livelihoods, and opportunities for sustainable recovery. Our programmes are designed to be inclusive, locally relevant, and responsive to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.

How We Work

Working With Communities, Partners and Institutions

AID works closely with communities and stakeholders to design and implement programmes that respond to local priorities and changing needs. We use participatory and community-centered approaches that promote ownership, inclusion, accountability, and sustainability. Through collaboration with government institutions, UN agencies, national and international NGOs, donors, and other development partners, AID combines local knowledge with technical expertise and resources to deliver effective humanitarian and development solutions.

Our Story

From Local Action to Sustainable Impact

AID was established with a commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through practical, locally informed, and sustainable solutions. Over time, the organization has strengthened its capacity to deliver humanitarian and development programmes while building partnerships with government institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, donors, and other development actors.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to contribute to a more resilient and inclusive society where vulnerable and crisis-affected communities can access essential services, strengthen their livelihoods, participate in decisions that affect their lives, and pursue sustainable opportunities for recovery and development.

How it all started

AID's work has evolved from a commitment to community-centered development and humanitarian action into an integrated programming approach that connects immediate response with longer-term development, resilience, and peacebuilding. Today, AID continues to strengthen locally led solutions and partnerships to respond to the complex challenges facing communities in Ethiopia.

Our Mission and Vision

AID works to strengthen the capacities, resilience, and self-reliance of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities through integrated humanitarian and development programmes. Our work focuses on essential services, protection, education, health and nutrition, WASH, food security and livelihoods, while addressing cross-cutting priorities including gender equality, women's empowerment, inclusion, climate change adaptation, and community resilience.
